House elects new committee heads

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has elected new chairpersons of some of its committees.

During the lower chamber’s Tuesday plenary session, members of the majority bloc nominated the following:

• San Jose del Monte City Rep. Florida Robes as chairperson of the committee on housing and urban development
• Nueva Ecija Representative Rosanna Ria Vergara as the vice chairperson of the committee on housing and urban development
• Manila Rep. Joel Chua as chairperson of the committee on good government and public accountability

Meanwhile, Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel, Antipolo Rep. Romeo Acop, ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Edvic Yap, Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, Rep. Crispin Diego Remulla, and Rep. Roberto T. Uy, Jr were elected vice chairperson of the same panel.

No one objected to the motion, allowing the said lawmakers to secure the posts.
