LEGAZPI CITY — Classes at all levels in private and public schools in Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, and some parts of Albay remained suspended on Tuesday, Sept. 3, due to the widespread floods and landslides caused by Tropical Storm Enteng.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of Camarines Sur said in an advisory that based on the situational report on Monday afternoon, over 200 villages in 25 municipalities were still affected by flooding. At the same time, 24 spillways and eight roads were impassable.

Around 1,000 families were still in evacuation centers.

“The suspension also allows teachers and school personnel the necessary time to clean and restore flood-affected schools to ensure the safe return of students,” it said in the advisory.

In Naga City, classes remained suspended as some schools needed to clean them up.

Mayor Nelson Legacion said as of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, some areas in Barangay Mabolo were in knee-deep floods.

Camarines Norte Gov. Ricarte Padilla also suspended classes “to ensure the safety of the students in light of the ongoing impact and threats brought by Enteng.”

In the towns of Pio Duran and Jovellar in Albay, classes at all levels were also suspended to allow the clearing of schools and rehabilitation of damaged roads due to landslides.

Classes have been suspended in these provinces since Monday due to the heavy rains that caused severe flooding and landslides.

The state weather bureau lifted the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in the Bicol region on Monday afternoon.
