MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Enteng is forecast to intensify into a typhoon after it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said on Monday.
“On the track forecast, this tropical cyclone may exit the PAR on Wednesday,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11:00 a.m. update.
“Enteng is forecast to maintain tropical storm category until Tuesday during its traverse of mainland Northern Luzon,” it added. “Further intensification is forecast to occur from Wednesday onwards, with Enteng reaching severe tropical storm category on Wednesday and typhoon category on Friday.”
As of 11:00 a.m. Monday, Enteng was last spotted 115 kilometers Northeast of Infanta, Quezon or 85 kilometers east southeast of Baler, Aurora. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph, according to Pagasa.
Pagasa hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) over most parts of Luzon.
TCWS No. 2 is raised over eight areas in Luzon, where winds of greater than 62 kph and up to 88 kph may be expected in at least 24 hours, causing minor to moderate impacts to life and property.

Two people from Visayas were reportedly killed by Enteng, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
