Marcos on effects of Storm Enteng: Gov’t on top of situation

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday assured the public that the government is on top of the situation amid the onslaught of Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Yagi).
He explained that he has yet to convene the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) as they are already “working.”

“That’s always my policy, pagka nasa gitna ng krisis hindi ko sila tinatawag dahil nagtratrabaho sila,” Marcos said.

The NDRRMC is the primary working group — composed of government agencies and other organizations — planning and leading the government’s emergency response to calamities.
Marcos also said his office is monitoring affected areas “as a whole,” committing the release of region-wide, island-wide, or nationwide advisories as quickly as possible.

Moreover, Marcos said standard operating procedures are already in place and are being followed amid the onslaught of Enteng.
He also said that he had ordered the early announcement of the suspension of government work and classes to allow the public to adjust to such developments.
