SC suspends work on Monday due to Enteng

MANILA, Philippines — Various courts nationwide suspended work on Monday, September 2, due to the inclement weather brought by Tropical Storm Enteng (international name: Yagi).

The Supreme Court (SC) made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) upon the instruction of Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo and the orange rainfall warning issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

“[W]ork in the different offices in the Supreme Court is suspended as of 9:00 a.m. today, September 2, 2024, subject to the condition that a skeleton force will be provided by the Docket-Receiving Section of the Judicial Records Office, and Cash Collection and Disbursement Division of the Fiscal Management and Budget Office,” it wrote.

Below is the list of other courts that suspended work:

• Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Naga City
• All Municipal Trial Courts in Cities (MTCC), RTCs, and Offices of the Clerk of Court (OCC) in Dasmarinas, Cavite
• All courts in Las Piñas City
• All courts in Muntinlupa City
• All courts in San Mateo and Rodriguez, Rizal
• All courts in Tanuan City, Batangas
• RTC Binangonan, Rizal
• All Municipal Trial Courts (MTCs) of Angono and Cardona, Rizal
• RTC Imus, Cavite
• MTC Kawit, Cavite
• RTC Makati City
• RTC Calamba City and Los Baños, as well as MTCs of Los Baños, Bay, and Calauan, Laguna
• RTC and MTCC Batangas City and all courts under the jurisdiction of RTC Batangas City
• RTC and Metropolitan Trial Court of Mandaluyong City
• RTC Manila
• The Court of Appeals – Manila
• Sandiganbayan

Earlier, the Office of the Executive Secretary announced the suspension of government work in Metro Manila amid the heavy rains due to Enteng.

However, work in private companies and offices would be at the discretion of their respective heads, the Palace said.

Aside from this, classes at all levels in public and private schools within Metro Manila were likewise suspended due to the storm.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Enteng was last spotted 100 kilometers north-northwest of Daet, Camarines Norte, moving at 15 kilometers per hour (kph) west-northwestward and packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Pagasa also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 over Metro Manila and 27 other areas, and TCWS No. 2 over nine more areas in Luzon due to Enteng.
