PH Coast Guard receives uncrewed surface vessel, first in SEA

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) became the first maritime security organization in Southeast Asia to have an uncrewed surface vessel (USV), making it more equipped to collect data from the skies and the sea.

This breakthrough comes after the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime’s (UNODC) Global Maritime Crime Program (GMCP) turned over a USV to the PCG.

Senate probe eyed on terminated deal with national ID supplier

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III is gearing up for  a congressional inquiry into the termination of the government’s contract with the supplier of the national ID cards.

Pimentel said he himself would initiate the probe in the upper chamber.

Freeze on Quiboloy assets extended to February 2025

The Court of Appeals (CA) has extended the freeze order on the bank accounts, real estate properties and other assets registered in the name of fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy and his Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) sect.

The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) confirmed on Thursday that the freeze order had been extended until Feb. 6, 2025, based on the appellate court’s resolution dated Aug. 20.
