Palace suspends public school classes, gov’t office work in Metro Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Classes in public schools and work in government offices in Metro Manila have been suspended on Wednesday amid inclement weather.
“Classes in public schools and work in government agencies within the National Capital Region are suspended effective 7:00 a.m. August 28, 2024, due to the effects of Southwest Monsoon,” the Presidential Communications Office announced in a Facebook post.
The Palace announced the suspension upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).
The suspension, however, excludes frontline agencies engaged in emergency services.
“The recommended suspension will prevent any untoward incidents and will ensure the safety of the general public,” the NDRRMC said.
