UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) working scholar Jan Frelyn Ocso Paalisbo ranked 10th place in the March 2012 Licensure Examination for Teachers nationwide.
Paalisbo’s feat brought honor and pride to her school. The Siquijor native is the youngest of seven siblings.
“All I asked our Almighty Father was to let me pass the exam. I never expected to become a topnotcher. At least all my sacrifices paid off,” Paalisbo said.
The UC College of Teacher Education had its first topnotcher in 2010, clinching sixth place.
Poverty is not a hindrance to education anymore, because according to the UC administration there are now schools that offer scholarship assistance to poor but deserving students. UC, for instance, has several scholarship opportunities for all courses.
