Makabayan unveils 10-man senatorial slate

MANILA, Philippines — The Makabayan Coalition on Monday added three more names to its senatorial slate for the 2025 polls, increasing the number of candidates from seven to 10.

During a program at Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila, the coalition revealed that Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) chairman Mody Floranda, Urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) member Mimi Doringo, and Jocelyn Andamo from Filipino Nurses United are now included in its senatorial lineup.

According to Bayan Muna Chairman and Makabayan co-chairperson Neri Colmenares, the slate represents their “unwavering dedication to the principles of nationalism, democracy, and social justice.”

“Our candidates are not just leaders but are true advocates for the Filipino people, ready to push for policies that uplift the oppressed and marginalized sectors of our society,” his statement reads.

“As we introduce these stalwarts of change, we reaffirm our commitment to the struggle for a truly sovereign and democratic nation. Let us draw inspiration from our heroes and continue their legacy in our fight for freedom and justice,” he added.
