Fire burns 21 houses in Biñan City

LUCENA CITY — A fire of still unknown origin broke out on Wednesday in Biñan City, Laguna and razed 21 houses.

The Police Region 4A reported Thursday, Aug. 22, that the fire erupted around 2 p.m. in in Sitio (sub-village) 1 and 2, South City Homes in Barangay Sto. Tomas.

Firemen extinguished the blaze after one hour and 25 minutes.

The Biñan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management office reported that the fire burned down 21 houses, all made of concrete and light materials.

No casualties or serious injuries were reported by the police.

The fire victims, who were from 21 families, were brought to an evacuation center in the village, where local social workers attended to them.

Authorities had yet to determine the property damage and the cause of the fire.
