The Sandiganbayan’s Seventh Division on Friday cleared former Philippine National Police chief Jesus Verzosa and 12 others of graft charges in connection with the controversial 2009 purchase of second-hand choppers during the Arroyo administration.

In a 347-page decision, the antigraft court absolved Versoza, saying there was no “proven connection” between those found guilty and his supposed role.

The case stemmed from the purchase of three Robinson R-44 Raven helicopters, two of which were alleged to be passed off as brand new, that was supposedly approved and signed by then PNP Director General Verzosa.
