Senate beefs up security for Corona’s arrival

MANILA, Philippines – The level of security at the Senate on Tuesday when Chief Justice Renato Corona is expected to take the witness stand will be comparable to that during the first day of the impeachment trial.

A Radyo Inquirer 990AM report on Monday quoted Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Jose Balajadia as saying that their security measures were intensified for the chief magistrate’s arrival at the impeachment trial.

He said that Corona will be assigned his own holding area.

The chief justice will also be allowed to bring personal security but they will not be permitted to bring firearms, the report added.

Officers from the Southern Police District will ensure that protesters will stay near the Manila Film Center.
