Fisher missing in ship-boat collision off Masbate

MANILA, Philippines — A fisher went missing after a collision between a motorbanca and an unidentified vessel off Burias Island in Masbate province, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday.

At around 2:00 a.m. on August 10, Roland Marientes, 37; and his brother, Roldan Marientes, 23, were asleep when an unidentified vessel collided with their boat, Motorbanca Dandan.

Roland was sighted and rescued by the MV Virgen De Penafancia XII crew, while Roldan remained missing.

PCG said search and rescue operations for Roldan are continuing.
