MANILA, Philippines — The University of the East (UE) has pushed back its enrollment deadline for the first semester of the school year 2024-2025 until August 15, 2024.

In a statement on Monday, the university said the extension was intended to accommodate the admission of students affected by the recent tropical cyclone.

“We give due consideration to both our old and new students who still wish to enroll but need more time to recover from the recent typhoon. They, too, should not be left behind in pursuing their future,” UE President Zosimo Battad said in a statement.

“An extended timeline to enroll could just be an added lifeline for students to finish their courses without further delay,” Battad added.

The university advised college freshmen and grade 11 applicants to enroll at the UE Admissions Office of their preferred UE campus, while college upperclassmen, graduate school, and law students may register at their respective dean’s offices.

Furthermore, admissions for kindergarten to grade 10 and grade 12 may be done at the principal’s office.

UE said it provides free college entrance examinations to incoming college freshmen and offers scholarships to deserving poor students from across the country.

The classes in UE officially began on August 1 across its Manila and Caloocan campuses for all levels, including graduate schools. —Arianne Cagsawa, Inquirer.net trainee
