Ryan Bordalba’s goal in the dying minutes of the match put Hiroshi FC’s men’s open title-retention bid back on track as the team posted its first win in the 12th Cebu Interclub Football Cup with a 1-0 edging of the ERCO FC-PTT at the University of San Carlos Technological Center.
Hiroshi’s 40 Above team also posted its first win by beating Baliant Hawk United, 3-1.
FCIC, which scored an upset by beating the defending champions during the first day, failed to make it two straight as it bowed to Camella FC, 7-1.
Matches were held simultaneously at the football fields of USC-TC, Paref Springdale and San Roque in Mandaue.
The other match in the men’s open saw San Roque Football Club achieving an impressive 10-0 routing of Wealthbank Queen City United.
The Abellana National School (ANS)-Pomeroy continues its winning ways with a 10-0 demolition of the DB Razkals in the bracket B of boys 17.
After a disappointing start, the Mandaue Technical Institute bounced back with a 4-0 blanking of S.C. Warriors.
In the bracket A of the boys 17, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu draw first blood with a 10-2 beating of FCIC.
Other teams posting wins in the second day were Dinamo South FC, who annihilated Canduman FC, 13-0 in the boys 12, and Canduan FC, who thrashed Dinamo’s younger team, 6-0, in the players 10 contest.
This tournament is organized by the Cebu Amateur Football Club now headed by Greg Balsicas.
