MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Policemen arrested one of the two suspects in the robbery on Thursday of a Korean mart in Angeles City.

In a statement, the Angeles City police said their operatives tracked down alias “Jaywang” in Lourdes Northwest village and arrested him around midnight.

It identified Jaywang as one of the two men who went inside Wangja Korean Mart in Barangay Mining early Wednesday, pretended to be customers, and robbed the establishment.

Investigators said the suspects pointed a handgun at the cashier and forcibly took some P10,000 from the cash register and the mobile phone of the cashier.

Several hours after the incident, the store’s owner and cashier reported the incident to the police.

After showing them a “rogue gallery,” the victims recognized Jaywang in a photo as one of the two robbers.

Police launched an operation that resulted in his arrest.

The suspect’s cohort, whom the police said was also a resident of Lourdes Northwest, escaped.

Charges for armed robbery were prepared against the suspects.
