CQCU upsets Diliman in UFL second round

AFTER SEVERAL near misses in the second round of the United Football League Second Division Tournament, the Cebu Queen City United Football Club (CQCU FC) clinched the big one by handing Diliman Victory Liner FC its first loss yesterday at the University of Makati.

CQCU FC outsmarted the division second placer Diliman with a 4-1 victory to strengthen its hold of third place with 36 points.

CQCU FC is now six points ahead of its closest pursuer Agila FC and came closer to second place by being just eight points behind Diliman.

Ariel Cahilig scored twice for the Cebuano team in the 40th and 69th minutes of the match.

Junard Aguilar’s score with just six minutes into the match started the scoring spree for Cebu.

Sealing the win for CQCU FC was Carlito “Shaq” Abadia, who connected in the 74th minute.

CQCU FC settled for a 1-all draw against Diliman the first time they met back in January during the tournament’s first round.

CQCU FC improved its win-draw-loss record to 11-3-3 while Diliman has a 14-2-1 tally.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
