P80 million worth of drugs seized in Cordillera in July

MANILA, Philippines — Illegal drugs worth P80 million were seized in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) during monthlong anti-narcotics operations in July, according to police.

This marks a P16 million increase from June when over P64 million worth of drugs were seized.

In a report on Thursday, the Police Regional Office CAR said that 26 individuals were captured after conducting a total of 78 operations regionwide in July.

The authorities confiscated 47.23 grams of shabu (crystal meth), 364,845 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants, 2,850 pieces of marijuana seedlings, 40,750.05 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, and 20,000.00 grams of dried marijuana stalks.

According to the report, the total value of these illegal drugs was P80,604,216.36.

Among the operations conducted, 51 were launched to abolish marijuana, 16 were buy-bust operations, five were executed with search warrants, three were checkpoints, two were served with warrants of arrest, and one was a police response. — Arianne Denisse Cagsawa, INQUIRER.net intern
