Motorcycle rider yields illegal firearm in Rizal checkpoint

LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider on Wednesday yielded an illegal firearm at a checkpoint in Taytay town in Rizal province.

The Region 4A police reported on Thursday that cops conducting “Oplan Sita,” a routine anti-criminality inspection, flagged down “Kurf” in Barangay Sta. Ana at 4:20 a.m.

The rider disregarded the order and sped off, prompting the police to chase him until he was cornered.

When frisked, the police found Kurf carrying an undocumented and loaded caliber .38 revolver.

The police said they also found no driver’s license and the vehicle’s documents from the rider.

The suspect was placed under police custody and is facing criminal charges, including violation of the firearm law.

The police also impounded the motorcycle.
