MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has recommended to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. the members of a task force that aims to improve Filipino students’ performance in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said it at the Brigada Pagbasa Partners Network Launch in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday.

“We have an idea of who we want. We have recommended it to the Office of the President. We’re waiting for the final approval,” he told reporters.

According to Angara, the task force will be composed of DepEd officials and education experts from the private sector.

The initiative to create a task force on PISA follows Marcos’ directive to improve Filipino learners’ ranking in international assessments.
