MANILA, Philippines — Students enrolled in the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand at Balingasa High School in Quezon City were assured by the Department of Education (DepEd) that their trackway would not be dissolved despite initial reports of low enrollment count.
In a statement on Tuesday, DepEd said they received a complaint from a group of parents regarding the potential dissolution.
“After consulting with the Schools Division of Quezon City, we are pleased to clarify that the ABM strand at Balingasa High School will continue to operate, following a higher-than-expected enrollment turnout. The concerned parents have been informed of the resolution,” it said.
DepEd also advised those who have inquiries related to enrollment or other school opening concerns to contact the Oplan Balik Eskwela Hotlines at 8636-1663, 8633-1942, 8634-0222, 8638-8641, 8638-7530, or via mobile at 0919-456-0027 (Smart) and 0995-921-8461 (Globe).

As of 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, a total of 21,563,642 out of 27,722,835 students enrolled for the current school year, which officially began on Monday in most schools nationwide.
The number is still expected to go up until the end of the enrollment period on Sept. 16, the DepEd said.
However, there were still 841 schools in the National Capital Region and in Regions 1, 3, 4A, and 12 that postponed their class opening due to the ongoing cleanup and repair activities in the areas.
