DepEd: Over 19 million students enrolled for SY 2024-2025

MANILA, Philippines — Over 19 million elementary, high school, and senior high school students have enrolled for School Year (SY) 2024-2025, the Department of Education (DepEd) said on Sunday.

According to DepEd’s latest data, 19,268,747 students enrolled in public and private schools, alternative learning systems, and state universities and colleges as of 9 a.m. on July 28.

Of this figure, 10,487,481 are elementary students, 5,851,382 are in junior high school, and 2,724,052 are in senior high school.

The region with the most enrolled students is Calabarzon, with 2.8 million, followed by Central Luzon with 2.19 million, and the National Capital Region (NCR) with 2.068 million.

Classes for this school year will begin on Monday, July 29.

However, based on separate data from the agency, 979 public schools in the NCR and other areas across the country will not start classes on July 29 due to the damage caused by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.
