GUINOBATAN, ALBAY, Philippines —Heavy rains brought by Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi) and the southwest monsoon or “habagat” left an initial P19.3 million damage to agriculture in the Bicol Region.
According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol, this includes the production loss or cost of damage reported in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, and Camarines Norte.

Meanwhile, 21 houses were destroyed and 80 houses were damaged, according to OCD’s report.
Most of the houses were in Magallanes town in Sorsogon, where 74 were destroyed by storm surges.
In Albay, 12 houses were damaged by storm surges in Pio Duran town.
Two houses were damaged in Juban town in Sorsogon, while six were destroyed in Sipocot town in Camarines Sur.
