MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains are expected to drench Metro Manila, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, Rizal, and Batangas on Friday evening, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) earlier said Luzon is expected to have fairer weather, but chances of thunderstorms were not ruled out.

Metro Manila and nearby provinces are still reeling from the torrential rains caused by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Carina.

A total of 32 people were reported dead due to heavy rains brought by the typhoon and the weather system, many of whom are from Metro Manila.
