MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out in a three-story residential building in Barangay Tumana, Marikina City, and killed a 66-year-old male and injured two other individuals, the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) reported on Friday.
The fire, which originated in the kitchen on the ground floor of the building, was put under the first alarm at 2:50 a.m.
It was declared under control at 3:29 a.m. and extinguished at 3:55 a.m.

The BFP-NCR identified the fatality as Vidal Garcia, 66 years old.
A firefighter, FO2 Bernardino Cruz, inhaled some smoke but was already in good condition as of this writing. Cris Garcia suffered from second-degree burns on the face and upper back.
The BFP-NCR estimated the damage to eight establishments to be P200,000.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
