DepEd says over 18 million students enrolled for SY 2024-25

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) said more than 18 million elementary to senior high school students have enrolled for the school year 2024-2025.

Based on DepEd’s data released Friday, a total of 18,370,310 students enrolled in public and private schools as well as in alternative learning systems, state universities and colleges, and local universities and colleges as of 9 a.m. on July 26.

Of the total, 10,001,689 are elementary students, 5,577,374 are junior high school students, and 2,598,529 are senior high school students, according to the education department.

Student enrollment in all public schools for SY 2024-2025 was set from July 3-26.

The DepEd said SY 2024-2025 will begin on Monday, July 29, and end on Friday, May 16, 2025.

However, in a statement on Thursday, Education Secretary Sonny Angara said school openings were postponed in some areas that were hardly hit by the typhoon-strengthened southwest monsoon to give time for cleanup operations and rehabilitation.
