MANILA, Philippines — Work at the Senate is still suspended on Thursday, July 25, to allow the cleanup of the facilities after the incessant rains brought by Super Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.
In an advisory, Senate Secretary Atty. Renato Bantug Jr. said Senate President Francis Escudero declared the work suspension.
“[This is] to allow a thorough and unimpeded check and clean-up of Senate facilities and to allow employees who may have been affected by the heavy rains [or] flood to attend to their urgent concerns,” the advisory reads.
“Employees who will be required to report for work tomorrow in the exigency of the service shall be entitled to overtime pay or compensatory time off,” it adds.
According to Bantug, regular work at the chamber shall resume on July 29.
In view of the continuous inclement weather caused by the southwest monsoon and Carina and the deep flood at the Senate entrance, Escudero also declared the suspension of work at the Senate on Wednesday.
