Flood hits Metro Manila roads on Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines — Gutter to chest-high floods affected many roads in Metro Manila on Wednesday due to heavy rains, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). 

The following roads were submerged in an 8- to 19-inch deep flood, based on advisories from the MMDA and police:

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s 11:00 a.m. bulletin, Typhoon Carina was last spotted some 345 kilometers north – northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, moving north – northwest at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 205 kph. 

It also enhanced the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, and is expected to bring moderate to intense rainfall in the western part of Luzon from Wednesday to Friday.
