With the opening of the school year less than a month away, Las Piñas Mayor Vergel Aguilar has ordered all school authorities to start cleaning up rooms and other school facilities which have remained unused during the summer break.

In a statement, Aguilar emphasized the importance of cleaning classrooms and other school facilities and equipment to prevent spreading diseases such as dengue fever and the insects which transmit them.

“Every nook and cranny of local schools must be kept spic and span so as not to [put] the pupils [at risk of] contracting the deadly disease. We cannot be complacent.

We must take all the necessary preventive measures to ensure a safe and clean environment,” Aguilar said.

He ordered all school administrators in both public and private schools to start cleaning next week in line with the yearly Brigada Eskwela program of the Department of Education. Nathaniel R. Melican
