Sona 2024: Marcos notes significant uptick of college, Tesda enrollments

Highlights: Sona 2024

MANILA, Philippines — There has been a significant uptick in the enrollment rate in colleges as well as in programs under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. cited this development during his third State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday.

“We witnessed this past school year, a significant rise in enrollment rate in higher education both in public and private institutions,” Marcos said.

“The same upward trend is noted in technical technical-vocational education and training or TVET,” he also said.

Marcos, however, did not provide specific numbers about this development.

The Chief Executive then noted that eight out of 10 TVET graduates “ultimately land decent jobs.”

“With this high employability rate, TVET will definitely be instrumental in capacitating our people and maintaining our employment rate at consistently high levels,” Marcos said.
