LEGAZPI CITY — Albay Gov. Edcel Greco Lagman on Monday suspended all outdoor and water activities due to heavy rains and the effects of the southwest monsoon in the province.
In an advisory, Lagman advised the public to avoid crossing the river and low-lying areas due to expected river swelling and flooding.
Fishermen using small sea crafts were also asked to avoid venturing into the sea.
He said local officials could implement localized evacuations, especially in areas prone to lahar, floods, and landslides.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Southern Luzon issued a yellow rainfall warning in Albay around 11 a.m., which means heavy rains could trigger flooding in low-lying areas.
Pagasa said moderate rains were also expected in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Marinduque in the next few hours. INQ
