Sea travel suspended for small vessels in north Quezon

LUCENA CITY — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel on Monday, July 22, for small vessels in the northern part of Quezon province due to rough sea conditions.

In an advisory, the PCG in northern Quezon cited the 8 a.m. forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) that “moderate to rough seas are expected to affect the eastern seaboards of northern Quezon, particularly in Patnanungan and Jomalig islands, due to Severe Tropical Storm Carina and the southwest monsoon.”

This meant that all trips by vessels with a gross tonnage of 250 or less, like motorized passenger or fishing boats in the northern Quezon part of the Pacific Ocean, were suspended.

The suspension order would be lifted, and sea travel for small seacraft may be resumed when weather/sea conditions permit, as may be declared by Pagasa, the PCG said. INQ
