Lawmakers laud Marcos admin’s achievements
MANILA, Philippines — Even before President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivered his third State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday, several lawmakers, led by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, had already expressed their satisfaction with the government’s achievements over the past year.
In a statement on Sunday, Romualdez said the Marcos administration has established a strong position for the country regarding economic growth.

“Under President Marcos’ leadership, our economy is thriving. We are seeing the highest growth rates in decades, which means more jobs and better opportunities for every Filipino,” his statement read.
He noted that the economy posted a 7.6 percent growth rate in 2022 and a 6.4 percent growth rate in the first quarter of 2023.
Article continues after this advertisementThis was affirmed by Ako Bicol Rep. Elizaldy Co, who said that the government secured significant investments through international economic missions and strengthened diplomatic ties with major economies.
Article continues after this advertisement“Our proactive approach in international relations is paying off. The investments we are attracting are creating jobs and driving economic growth, securing a better future for our nation,” he added.
Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. cited the impact of the Build Better More program on the nation’s infrastructure development.
He said the Luzon Spine Expressway Network will reduce travel time from Ilocos to Bicol from 20 hours to 9 hours, and the construction of mega-bridges will enhance national connectivity and efficiency.
“Our infrastructure projects are transforming the landscape of our nation. They are not just roads and bridges; they are pathways to a brighter future for all Filipinos,” the representative of Pampanga’s third district said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker and Quezon 2nd District Rep. David Suarez commended the initiatives on sustainable energy.
“The shift to renewable energy is a testament to our commitment to a sustainable and prosperous future. We are not just meeting today’s needs but also protecting the environment for future generations,” he said.
Majority Leader and Zamboanga City 2nd District Rep. Manuel Jose Dalipe added that the administration ensures “no Filipino is left behind” by reviving the Kadiwa stores.
“The Marcos administration is making sure no Filipino is left behind. From affordable housing to accessible food supplies, we are making tangible improvements in the lives of our people,” he said.
