PH open to Vietnam talks on overlapping sea claims
The Philippines on Thursday said it was willing to discuss its overlapping extended continental shelf (ECS) with Vietnam after Hanoi filed its own ECS claim before a United Nations body a day earlier.
Vietnam filed its claim a month after regional neighbor the Philippines made a similar move, Vietnam’s foreign ministry said on Thursday.
Pagasa: Widespread rain in PH due to 2 LPAs
Two low-pressure areas (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility will trigger rainfall in most parts of the country on Friday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Almost the entire country will have cloudy skies and rains,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in Filipino in an early morning bulletin.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday released the traffic rerouting plan for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (Sona) on July 22.
According to the MMDA, a zipper lane will be opened on the southbound portion of Commonwealth Avenue for guests and officials.
