MANILA, Philippines — A meteorite collection with some samples dating up to more than 140 years ago was donated to the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP).
According to the NMP on Wednesday, the donation made on July 12 came from the collection of a certain David Herskowitz, Ana Ophelia Herskowitz, and Ferdinand Jolo Agbayani, in honor of their mother, Myrna Agbayani.

The meteorites came from various locations locally and internationally: a pair from Quezon Province, one from the United States, one from Sweden, and the Sahara Desert.
The collection also includes the Bondoc meteorite, which is known to be the largest and oldest known meteorite in the Philippines.

The meteorites will be integrated into the museum’s National Geological and Paleontological Collections and will be exhibited in the future, the NMP added.
