MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and rain are forecast in most parts of the country due t the combined effects of southwest monsoon or “habagat” and the low pressure area (LPA) off Samar, according to the state weather bureau.
“Halos buong bansa ay nakararanas ng maulap na kalangitan na may pag-ulan,” said Aldczar Aurelio, weather specialist of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in an early morning weather forecast.
(Almost the entire country will havbe cloudy skies and rain.)
As of 3:00 a.m., the LPA was last spotted in the waters of Catbalogan City, Samar, according to Aurelio.
“Itong low pressure area ay nananatiling mababa ang tiyansa na maging bagyo,” he said.
(The low pressure area has a low probability of becoming a tropical cyclone.)
Aurelio added that due to the LPA, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail in the Visayas, Bicol region, Marinduque, Romblon, and Caraga region.
Similar conditions are forecast in Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon due to the trough or extension of the LPA.
The “habagat” will likewise cause the same conditions to Metro Manila, Bataan, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan).
The rest of the country can expect fairer weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and only chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
No gale warning is in effect over any of the country’s seaboards.
