LUCENA CITY – A 21-year-old tattoo artist died early Sunday (July 14) after the motorcycle he was driving accidentally bumped into a parked truck in Candelaria town in Quezon province.

Motorcyclist “Dan” was passing along the Maharlika Highway when he hit the left rear portion of a truck that was temporarily parked at the shoulder of the road in Barangay (village) Mangilag Sur at around 2:30 a.m., a report from Quezon police said.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, the rider, a resident of the locality, died on the spot from fatal head injuries.

The report did not specify if the parked truck driven by “Jumar” had a warning device for approaching vehicles.

The report did not also state whether or not the victim was wearing a crash helmet, which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.

The truck driver was taken into custody as the police conduct further investigations.
