MANILA, Philippines — Customs and anti-narcotics personnel intercepted on Friday an outbound shipment of methamphetamine hydrochloride — crystal meth or shabu — with an estimated value of P680,000 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).

In a statement, the Bureau of Customs said it conducted the operation in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Naia Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (Naia-IADITG).

The shipment — declared as “documents” — raised suspicion while it was undergoing routine scanning. It turned out that it contained 20 sachets of shabu.

It came from Muntinlupa City and was bound for Italy.

The BOC handed over the confiscated drugs to PDEA for further investigations on violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
