MANILA, Philippines — After months-long physical absence, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla made his public appearance on Wednesday, leading the signing of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Rules on Criminal Investigation in Malacañang.

“His health is good. Recovery is on the uptick after his doctors asked him to go on a strict diet in order to lose weight,” DOJ spokesperson Jose Dominic Clavano IV told reporters.

Remulla appeared publicly last March when he announced that the DOJ would be filing qualified human trafficking, sexual, and child abuse cases against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy.

Previously, Clavano said Remulla is working from home.

Remulla underwent heart bypass surgery last year but has been battling complications in his immune system since then.
