MANILA, Philippines — Four members of a cybercrime syndicate allegedly involved in recent cyber attacks on the Commission of Election (Comelec) and Sky Cable Data were nabbed by authorities on Tuesday.
The National Bureau of Investigation – Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) conducted a surveillance operation on the information it received that a certain individual or a group may be responsible for the cyber breaches.
These instances include, but not limited to, the Comelec and Sky Cable Data, where data from subscribers’ information are being sold.
The cybercrime division also revealed that a cybercrime syndicate named ‘Blood Security Hackers’ was behind the recent incidents.

NBI-CCD arrested Eden Glenn Petilo, Carlo Reyna, John Kenneth Macarampat and Leonel Obina for violating provisions of the Data Privacy Act and Cybercrime Prevention Act.
In a statement released Wednesday, NBI said operatives held an entrapment operation on Tuesday where the arrested members received the marked money as payments for the hacked data sold.

The arrested cybercrime members will undergo inquest proceedings for the cybercrime violations.
