3 persons missing in Maguindanao del Norte due to flash floods

COTABATO CITY — Rescuers are still searching for three persons who went missing Tuesday night amid a flash flood in Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte.

A combined team from the Bangsamoro government’s Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence, the Ministry of Public Works, the Philippine National Police, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and the Bureau of Fire Protection launched the search-and-rescue operation at past midnight on Wednesday.

Heavy rains caused the flood that began on Tuesday afternoon.

The affected villages were Bayanga Norte, Bayanga Sur, Bugasan Norte, Bugasan Sur, and Sapad.

The bridge between the towns of Parang and Matanog was also rendered nearly impassable due to the flooding.
