LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle-riding member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) of the Philippine Army was caught Monday with an illegal firearm and shabu (crystal meth) after a brief chase with police in Tuy town in Batangas province.

The Region 4A police reported on Tuesday, July 9, that cops conducting “Oplan Sita,” a routine anti-criminality inspection, flagged down “Ariel” in Barangay Luntal at 8:50 p.m. for driving without a crash helmet.

While the authorities were inspecting the vehicle’s documents, the rider suddenly fled, prompting the policemen to give chase until he was cornered.
