NBI seizes counterfeit products worth P13M

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized counterfeit products worth P13 million in two operations last Friday.

Authorities served 12 arrest warrants to the operators of shops in Manila selling counterfeit Huawei products worth P1 million. They are facing complaints for violating Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) and Section 168 (Unfair Competition) of the Intellectual Property Code.

The NBI also acted on the complaint filed by Lee Bumgarner, Inc. on behalf of Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works regarding the distribution of counterfeit Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works products.

Authorities seized fake Victoria’s Secret and Body Works products worth P12,282,500 from shops in Manila, Quezon City, and Parañaque City.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago reminded the public to purchase from authorized retailers or official stores.
