MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) said the vaccine against African Swine Fever (ASF) will soon be available for commercial use in the country.

The DA said the commercial trial for the vaccines will be approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in two weeks.

“Malapit nang lumabas ‘yung approval sa vaccine for the swine,” Agriculture Sec. Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said in a statement.

“FDA and the DA are working very closely on this. Ang ganda ng teamwork namin (We have a very good teamwork),” he added.

Once approved, the DA said the commercial distribution of the vaccine will follow.

Laurel said that with the availability of the vaccine, they expect the spread of ASF in the country to finally end.

“The vaccine from Vietnam really works. So, that solves our problem,” he said.
