Pagasa: Rain showers expected in many parts of PH on Friday

MANILA, Philippines – Cloudy skies and rain showers are forecast in Metro Manila and most parts of the country on Friday due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the state weather bureau.

“Itong ITCZ ay naapektuhan ang malaking bahagi ng ating bansa,” said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

(The ITCZ is affecting most parts of the country.)

Aurelio said that in addition to Metro Manila, Calabarzon ( Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), the Bicol region, the entire Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will likely see fair weather and partly cloudy to cloudy skies and chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

The effects of the ITCZ, which refers to cloud bands that encircle the globe near the Earth’s equator, will continue in the coming days, according to Aurelio.

Pagasa added that no tropical cyclone is expected to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days and that no gale warning is in effect on Friday over any of the country’s seaboards.
