Marcos to allocate P1.4B for Maharlika Highway rehab
TACLOBAN CITY — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced he would allocate P1.4 billion for the rehabilitation of the Maharlika Highway.
“There are parts of the Maharlika Highway which were already dilapidated so we need to fix them and ensure the maintenance of this infrastructure,” he said in his speech during a visit to Calbayog City, Samar.
The project, he said, is set to be completed in March 2025.
Marcos also vowed to widen the roads in the province to hasten the flow of transportation.
The Department of Public Works and Highways in the region earlier said it would ensure that the Maharlika Highway, which connects Eastern Visayas to the rest of the country, would be completed within the administration of Marcos.
