MANILA, Philippines—A 64-year-old man was killed in a fire that razed several houses in Pasay City before noon Friday, a city fire official said.
Fire Officer 3 Rodolfo Bulatao said that the lone fatality, identified as
Dante Cuchapin Sr. died due to suffocation after his residence and five more houses along Twin Pioneer Street, Don Carlos, Pasay City were gutted by fire which started at 11 a.m.
He said the fire reached fourth alarm before it was put out at 12:43 p.m.
Most of the houses affected were made of light materials, he said, but added that investigators have yet to identify the origin and cause of the blaze.
