Five persons died while two others were injured when a loader truck rammed into their houses

TACLOBAN CITY – Five persons died while two others were injured after a loader truck rammed into their houses in Barangay Caglanipao Sur, Tinambacan District in Calbayog City, Samar in the early hours of Tuesday, July 2.

The Calbayog City police have yet to release the names of the victims.

According to the city police report, the truck driven by a 40-year-old man from Caloocan City was traveling from Naval in Biliran to Allen town in Northern Samar when the truck’s brakes malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to swerve to the side of the road and hit the houses of the victims who were asleep.

The victims were taken separately to the Calbayog District Hospital and the St. Camillus Hospital where five of them were declared dead on arrival by the attending physicians.

About seven houses were damaged due to the incident.

The driver of the truck was arrested at the hospital and was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicides, serious physical injuries, and damage to properties.
