MANILA, Philippines — The first-ever parliamentary election in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) next year has encouraged 16 regional political parties and around 1,500 sectoral groups to seek accreditation from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The poll body announced Tuesday the number of organizations who have filed petitions for registration and accreditation as the list-up for regional political and sectoral organizations wishing to participate in the 2025 BARMM parliamentary elections ended on July 1.
The deadline was initially set on June 7 but later extended by the Comelec en banc.

Next year’s BARMM polls would fill 80 seats in the Parliament, comprising 40 party representatives, 32 district representatives, and eight sectoral representatives.
The 16 parliamentary political parties that sought Comelec accreditation are:
- United Bangsamoro Justice Party
- BARMM Grand Coalition
- Al-Ittihad-Ungaya sa Kawagib Nubangsamoro
- Maharlika Party
- Bangsamoro Party
- Amanat Democratic Party
- Bangsamoro Peoples Party
- Progresibong Bangsamoro Party
- Bangsamoro Federal Party
- Bangsamoro Peoples Democratic Party
- Partido Bangon Bangsamoro
- Indigenous, Settler, Sama and Minorities Alliance Party
- Indigenous Peoples Democratic Party
- Serbisyong Inklusibo Alyansang Progresibo
- Moro Ako
- United Advocates for Settler Communities

As for the filing of petitions for registration or accreditation of a coalition in BARMM, the Comelec said it would it would take place from August 15 to 30.
The Comelec likewise said that the last day for the filing of manifestations of intent to participate in the parliamentary election is from August 30 to September 30.
The 2025 BARMM polls will be held alongside the midterm elections for national and local positions such as senators, congressmen, governors, mayors, etc.
