Over 22,000 cops to secure Marcos’ third Sona

MANILA, Philippines — Over 22,000 policemen will be deployed to various parts of the country, including areas near Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City, where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will deliver his third State of the Nation Address (Sona) on July 22. 

In a statement issued on Monday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said 22,621 police will be dispatched, and sub-task groups will be formed.

Apart from the Security Task Force Sona 2024, we will form sub-task groups led by our five district directors in Metro Manila,” NCRPO chief Major Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr said in Filipino.

“We will distribute security and medical assistance alongside public and private agencies,” he added.

Of the 22,621 cops, 17,971 personnel are from the NCRPO and 1,879 are from other PNP units, including the police regional Offices of Central Luzon and Calabarzon. 

Meanwhile, 2,771 personnel are from other government agencies and force multipliers.
